My national insurance number is wrong. On my P60 it ends with an A instead of a C does this make a difference to me, my employers have told me it doesn't but I'm not so sure

It is always best to get mistakes like this corrected as soon as possible.

If you want to claim a tax refund or need proof of your earnings in the future you may come into difficulties if you have the wrong National insurance number on your P60 or P45.

I would speak to the payroll department of your company and insist that they correct the mistake. They are required under the data protection act to correct any information that is wrong.

Long Term Buddy

a long term employee who is being made redundant this year has said that her National Insurance (last character)Number is incorrect to her notification. We received the new change from the Department in 1989 but she didnt. How can we find out who is correct.
