I only earned £117 a week and I was told that the first £100 a week doesn't get taken into account is this true if so I really shouldn't have paid any tax as I only earned £4700

TaxFix

As you earned below the tax free allowance you shouldn’t have paid any tax and you can reclaim any tax that you did pay.

You should have got a P60 at the end of the tax year after you went on Maternity leave. Do you still have this?

If you do its quite easy to claim a tax refund for that year by going to:

http://www.taxfix.co.uk/claim

If you do not have your P60 you can contact your employer at the time and ask for a statement of earnings which can act as a replacement for a P60.
