I pay £50-£80 per week out of my wages on fuel to get me to/from work and also buy my own tools. Am i entitled to any money back?

I am from the UK, 23 years old and have been in Full time employment since October 2007.

Hi, I am in more or less the same situation. I think it stinks that the self employed get a tax break for this but as far as I know PAYE ers don\’t.

Apparently, if you keep a mileage book or something in equivelant, you can claim 40p per mile up to 10k (cant remember the exact figure but its more than 9k!!)

I spoke to HMRC direct and they said id have to go in to discuss….
