If i wasnt working for half a year and earned only 12000 instead of my 24000 . on paye am i entitled to a rebate .

Each person that works in the UK is given a tax free allowance. Currently this tax free allowance is £6,475 and it is allocated in your pay cheque and is normally divided evenly throughout the year.

If you stop working part way through the year you will not have received your full tax free allowance and as a result you can make a claim for the proportion that you did not get.

You can calculate how much your refund would be bu inputting your total earnings for the tax year (April 6th until April 5th the following year) and putting the amount into a tax rebate calculator with the amount of income tax that you paid during the year:
