yes i gave my employer my p45, am on tax code 647l,i have earned a first wage of 576.00 on which i paid 11.00 ni and 7.20 tax,and a second wage of 1632.00 on which i paid 127.16 ni and 218.40 tax.Thanks.

The tax code you are on, you are getting the normal tax free allowance of 6475 pounds.
Your second job should be on a BR tax code because you should not get any allowances because you already get this in your first job.

I’m a UK national with an opportunity to work in the US and be paid in US dollars. My family will stay at home in the UK. What happens about Tax, Ni etc?

Mr Mc: It depends on if you become a non-resident in the UK. If you do then you no longer have to pay tax on income earned outside the UK. You may be liable for US tax though.
