I left my previous full time employment in July 2009 after 12 years and was unemployed until Jan 2010. Am I entitled to claim a tax rebate as I didn't work for five months in 2009?

As you only worked for part of the 2009/2010 tax year, there is a good chance that you may be due a tax rebate.
You can check to see if you are due a tax rebate by using your P45 you should have got from your employer that you were made redundant by in July 2009 and the P60 you should have recieved your new employer.
