I just got my national insurance number and would like to claim tax refund. I have not worked for a year and have never had refund, am I eligible for a rebate of some kind or not?

When you finished working last year did you receive a P45?
Your employer should have provided you with one.

If you earned below £6,475 pounds, you will be able to claim back all of your income tax.
