I have an enquiry. I got a new job in December last year. I did not give them my P45 and was put on an emergency tax code(BR). Will I automatically get a refund if or do i need to apply for a refund? thanks.

Usually if you do not give your employer a P45 you will automatically be put on an emergency tax code (BR) and it is likely that you will over pay tax and as a result be due a tax refund.
The Inland Revenue states that the onus is on the tax payer to claim back any emergency tax refund, and it is unlikely that it will be paid automatically.
