I Got P60 from my emplyer. The tax code showen is 647L X, and before that I was under tax code BR WK1. Do not understand why there is that X near my tax code and why both of them are different. Even I worked in other place period 2009 April - 2009 June, it says 0.00 GBP in previous employments in my P60. How could i make my P60 correct? My employer lost my P 45 in period 2010 April - 2009 June.

Am not in UK at the moment. Had to come back to look after my sick mother but thinking to come back to work to UK later, do not know if I make it this year.

TaxFix

A ‘BR’ tax code is a ‘basic rate’ tax code or sometimes known as an emergency tax code.

Usually you should only be on this code if you have two jobs.

If you were on an emergency tax code and you only had one job, there is a high chance that you overpaid tax.

If your P60/P45 is wrong, you can ask your employer for a ‘statement of earnings’ on company headed paper, and this can then used as a replacement for a P45/P60 when claiming a tax refund.
